EEOC sues Lakeland Eye Clinic for Sex Discrimination Against a Transgender Employee: History in the making! The EEOC filed two lawsuits this week for sex bias on behalf of two transgender employees. One case, highlighted above, was filed in Tampa, Florida. The other case, against R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, Inc., was filed on the same day in Indianapolis.
Woman fired on her first day at work, only hours after saying she was pregnant: The EEOC has filed a lawsuit in Mississippi after the employer, Magnolia Personal Care Home,allegedly fired an employee only a few hours after she told them she was pregnant. Wait, there’s more: It was her first day of work.
NFL Wants End to Claims of 2010 Salary Cap Collusion: This season has been a little tough on the NFL, hasn’t it? The NFLPA has sought out the revival of the 2011 salary cap collusion suit. This past week, the NFL has asked that a suit, originally dismissed in 2012, be closed “once and for all.”
$14.8M in grants announced by US Labor Department to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities: Six states will be receiving grants of more than $2M each to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities as part of the Disability Employment Initiative.
EEOC Sues ACM Services for Refusing to Recruit or hire African-Americans and Women: Maryland based ACM Services, Inc. was served with a lawsuit this week for allegedly refusing to hire women and African-Americans and for committing sexual and national origin harassment. The EEOC claims that the recruitment practices by ACM Services date back to 2005.
