TK Smith is Of Counsel with Barrett & Farahany, LLP. TK’s emphasis is litigation at the federal and state court trial level. TK has lead counsel experience in trial, mediation, arbitration and general litigation matters. TK’s main areas of practice are protecting workers’ rights, including: Age, Race, Gender, and Disability Discrimination; OHSA complaints; FMLA; FLSA; Sexual Harassment; Whistleblower Claims; and Wrongful Termination. Additionally, TK provides consultation and assistance to small businesses, management employees, and entrepreneurs.
TK practices throughout the country and has successfully tried jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations representing both plaintiffs and defendants. TK is admitted to practice in Georgia, Arkansas and Missouri, as well as Federal courts in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Colorado.
As an experienced trial attorney, TK has been recognized by his peers as “Best of the Bar” in the Kansas City Business Journal; and “Rising Star” in Super Lawyers Magazine. TK has also been a featured CLE presenter in Georgia and Missouri.
TK graduated from Arkansas State University with a B.S. in Sports Medicine-Athletic Training in 1999 and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas – Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law.
TK is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Atlanta Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Jackson County Bar Association, Gate City Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association , NELA GA and KC affiliate chapters, and the Arkansas State University’s Lettermen’s Club. TK also serves on the Board of Directors for the Labor and Employment Section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
When TK is not serving clients, he can be found in the woods where he is an avid hunter and outdoorsman. TK is also a dedicated student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
