Ángela Vela is a bilingual (Spanish and English) attorney at Barrett & Farahany, LLP.
Ángela currently works as a family law attorney with the Manely Firm, PC’s Justice Café in Marietta, Georgia, where she provides low-cost, à la carte, legal services, and in her own practice, Ángela Vela Law, LLC, where she focuses on serving Hispanics in Georgia. Before starting her own law practice in 2013, Ángela worked as a staff attorney at Atlanta Legal Aid Society’s office in Marietta, Georgia. While there, she provided civil legal assistance to low-income clients and performed outreach to the Hispanic community in Cobb County.
Ángela graduated with honors from Grinnell College, in Iowa, with a degree in Psychology and French. She received her MBA with a concentration in Human Resources Management and her Juris Doctorate, both from Georgia State University. She graduated cum laude and in the top 20% of her law school class. While in law school, Ángela received training in mediation, was an extern at the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network (GAIN), and worked as a graduate research assistant at the Center for Ethics and Corporate Responsibility at Georgia State University, and as an international program coordinator at Illien Adoptions International, in Atlanta. While in and shortly after business school, Ángela interned with the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta and India in the Ethics & Compliance, Audit and HR departments.
Prior to graduate school, Ángela worked as an associate at WFD Consulting, an HR Management consulting firm in Massachusetts and as a Spanish and French teacher in both public and private schools in New Hampshire.
When she is not practicing law, Ángela enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, son, Thomas, and daughter, Emma.
